Here’s some more Walt words from the July 17, 1965 issue of TV Guide in an article by writer Edith Efron titled “Still Attacking His Ancient Enemy—Conformity” with the subheading “Walt Disney marshals the forces of his imagination to strike out in new directions—despite sneers of critics and sophisticates”.

Walt Disney definitely needed a vacation in 1941. He was in debt to Bank of America for more than $3 million. World War II had closed the European markets to his animated features, so films like Pinocchio suffered financially. There was an acrimonious labor strike going on at the Disney Studios in Burbank that Walt took as a personal attack and always suspected the strike was Communist inspired.

Plans for expanding Hong Kong Disneyland, announced last month, have fans of Walt Disney World's shuttered Adventurers Club concerned. Why?

Among the details released for the Hong Kong expansion was the following tidbit about a new themed land called Mystic Point: "Guests can dine at the Adventurer's Club amid a vast collection of unusual artifacts from around the world or purchase exclusive curiosities and collectibles at the Archive Shop."

In this column, I am going to showcase Lynn Hart who became part of the Pleasure Island project in Spring 1988. Hart wrote the music and lyrics for the "Adventurers Club All-Purpose Theme Song" and “Jump Up for Jinkiies,” as well as material for the original “Forbidden Disney” show for the Comedy Warehouse that made fun of the Disney theme park experience.
