I was talking with my pal Hoot the other day about how a Matterhorn mountain would fit perfectly in Magic Kingdom's Fantasyland. Disney talked about the idea decades ago. It was intended to go where Toontown is today. The latest rumors about the 'new Fantasyland' or 'Fantasyland Forest' say that some people at Disney are rethinking the whole thing.

I Say Give Us a Matterhorn!

The Matterhorn is today’s selection for the #5 spot in Disneyland’s emerald anniversary countdown. Created by our old friend Bob “see ya next time” Gurr in 1959, this Disneyland classic is the eye catching mountain O’fun where you can spot Tinkerbell, random Swiss mountaineers and the illusive Yeti on a daily (or in Tink’s case, nightly) basis.

So what was the most magical year at Disneyland? If you could go back and visit, which year would you choose? Would it be 1959 with a bunch of new attractions? Or 1963? Some would argue that the mid-1980s were the golden age. Maybe even today is the climax. Good game to play with others, eh?

Yesterday we enjoyed our time in Toad Hall - so let's go back there again! The restaurant has so many details that it's hard to take them all in at once.

Let’s take a look back at Disneyland’s Monsanto House of the Future, also known as the Plastics Home of the Future. It was one of Tomorrowland’s first walk-through attractions and operated from 1957 to 1967 - and it may have been more prophetic than you think!
