Forever 21 is partnering with Disney Consumer Products to offer a new line of Minnie Mouse branded items in which Minnie gets a new look. Call it a makeover. And by "makeover," I mean "now looks like a person with a mouse head." The Disney Blog pointed out that the writing was (literally) on the wall for this, if you've seen the image of Minnie that's currently in.

I can't decide how I feel about this..on the one hand I like how they are making Disney a little more edgy for the older kids because there gets to a point in every kids life where they think Disney is babyish..but on the other hand..Minnie..oh Minnie..she just looks so different.

I think this is a brilliant article. There's something to be said for playing to your audience, but there's also the concept of sticking to your brand concept. I'm not sure this tall, skinny Minnie really deserves a place in Disney merchandising. I don't think she's going to sell any more $124 t-shirts than were already selling under the Tren-D label. She might do more harm than good in terms of Disney's overall audience.
