Sex, drugs, and questionably legal mischief are not something one would typically associate with the squeaky-clean image of Disney parks, especially if you are a devout Disney enthusiast. In his recent memoir, Chris Mitchell tears off the blanket of Disney’s warm and fuzzy magic to reveal an underbelly of debauchery & deviation so unfettered it would make the inhabitants of Pinocchio’s Pleasure Island look like amateurs.

Cast Member Confidential is definately a salacious book. I had a hard time putting it down, I wasn't sure whether to throw it out the window or die laughing at some points. I ended up appreciating a different perspective on the Disney experience, definately worth a read.

I am REALLY intrigued about this book. I'm afraid to read it, as I fear it will both make me mad and make me feel negatively about my favorite place on the planet, Disney World. Sometimes you don't want to see "how the sausage is made."

It doesn't have a lot to do

It doesn't have a lot to do with the way Disney runs things, it's more about some of the things that go on 'behind the scenes' as cast members & college program students.

Imagine this: You take a bunch of youthful Disney nerds. Maybe they're not cool like the frat guys back home on campus. They're not the sorority girls. They're the nerdy kids. And you put them all together in a big nerd stew at Disney and it's like, well, it's like that time at band camp, except now they can all buy alcohol.

Yeah, good times.

Bless their little hearts, indeed. I think that's an excellent way to react to this book. We're all a bunch of stupid, self-destructive kids at heart, right? The difference is that nobody documented it when we were doing it, so we couldn't see exactly how stupid and self-destructive we were.

I'm feeling a little hot air over here...is anyone else feeling that? ;-)

haha, I think for a lot of young adults it's like their first taste of freedom away from home. Not to mention you have fellow young people from ALL OVER THE WORLD, poised to teach not only the international language but also teach about alcohol from their home countries. haha.

Yep. And when you couple that "first time away from home" with the requirement to be "practically perfect in every way" when ON stage, I imagine there will be some letting down of hair OFF stage.

While it's not exactly an "expose," I wonder if there is some of the behavior that Disney might be able to put an end to. Personally, I don't want to know that some of those actions are taking place inside the goofy costume when my kids are around...

Well, I do know that the

Well, I do know that the author was talking about events that allegedly took place a decade ago. I sincerely hope that since then some of the more disturbing reports were investigated & action taken.

I imagine that's probably the situation. Well.. now that the book has come out, especially! I really enjoyed his answers to the questions, though. He seems pretty down to earth.
