Kilimanjaro Safaris disembarks near the Warden Post No. 4 and into the heart of gorilla country. If you are too hasty then you just might miss the backside of the gorilla habitat and an opportunity to see a tribute to the trail’s original name, Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail.

This list of firsts is less about attractions and more about quiet moments and exploring detail. Animal Kingdom provides plenty of excitement but also discovery for those who seek it.

Here are a few special firsts for me in Animal Kingdom...

Start your morning in Harambe off with a stop at the Tusker House for a filling breakfast with Donald and his friends. Unfortunately Donald doesn’t seem to be moving around inside the restaurant like he used to. We had breakfast there in April of 2010 and all the characters met you in the dining room, but at our breakfast there this past April, Donald was meeting guests, and having a Cast Member take photos, at the entrance to the restaurant.

When leaving from Africa heading towards Asia you may feel like you notice some strange movement coming from the foliage that surrounds you. Fear not! What you’re seeing is the lovely DiVine who moves gracefully and slowly down the path.

As you enter Africa coming from Discovery Island, Tusker House Restaurant is almost immediately your left in Harambe, and offers a diverse African-inspired buffet for lunch and dinner with carved meats and an array of interesting tastes such as chutneys, hummus, spiced tandoori tofu and couscous salad; plus, a primarily American meal Character breakfast.
