The barriers that separate man from beast at Disney’s Animal Kingdom are always imaginative ones. Rarely ever bars or simply glass keeping the two separate; they are nearly always interwoven into the areas storyline and often add to the overall theme of the exhibit.

Over the next couple of weeks we’re going to take a closer look at the Yak and Yeti Restaurant in the Animal Kingdom’s Asia. Located in the fictional town of Anandapur, at the base of Mt. Everest, the Yak and Yeti Restaurant offers a tasty selection of Asian cuisine, as well as a story that defines the area...

While there are many reasons that I love the Animal Kingdom, one big reason is the attention to detail and story that you’ll find. This is especially true in Asia, where you have the backstory of the horrible King who turned the forest into a hunting preserve and hunted the animals for sport.

Inside the Animal Kingdom’s Asia is the fictional town of Anandapur. The Maharajah Jungle Trek takes guests just outside this village and into the ruins of a former sultan’s palace. This place has a story of its own, which we will address one day in the future here, but for today, we’re focusing on the aviary.
