Looking for some fine Sunday evening reading? The majority of our “land” pages, such as Disneyland’s Adventureland, Animal Kingdom’s Africa, and Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland, include a special section called “Disney Design” by urban planner Sam Gennawey. Sam’s work has been featured in the Unofficial Guide: The Color Companion to Walt Disney World and Four Decades of Magic: Celebrating the First Forty Years of Disney World.

The featured attraction at Pixar Place is Toy Story Midway Mania, housed inside a replica of the main building at Pixar Animation Studios. Step inside, though, and you'll discover the giant atrium lobby has been filled with an enormous interior set of Andy's room from the film.

Pecos Bill Cafe had been part of the Magic Kingdom landscape since 1971. A much-needed expansion effort in 1998 incorporated the adjacent Mile Long Bar (once located behind the blue facade) and added indoor seating, bringing the Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe to Frontierland.

It’s no secret. I love Liberty Tree Tavern. It has one of my favorite burgers, one of my favorite appetizers, and one of my favorite desserts in all of Disney World. The food is great, the service is excellent, and the atmosphere of the restaurant is delightful.

What follows is an extensive, visually oriented view of Adventureland based on the concept of getting down to the level of colors and textures instead of things like building shapes and placement. I did this by photographing literally every unique surface in Adventureland and then tediously sorting out the most representative of these "swatches".
