Illustrated DonaldDuck - Imagineering Disney

I would wear this mountaineer Donald on a t-shirt, I would. I scanned these from a 1973 "Disney's Wonderful World of Knowledge" book. It's a picture book about animals- along the lines of Walt Disney's True Life Adventures films.

Baloo & Bre'r Fox in 1974 (Plus Disneyland Tobacco Shop Extra!)

http://gorillasdontblog.blogspot.comMore from this Domain

I have a great photo, kindly sent to me by Larry Nikolai of Walt Disney Imagineering. It shows a window that was part of the Tobacco Shop (see the window in 1960 here), with a wonderful ode to the evil weed. Can you imagine anything like this in Disneyland today?

Herb Ryman's EPCOT City

http://progresscityusa.comMore from this Domain

Herb Ryman’s work on EPCOT City for Walt Disney ended well before Walt Disney World’s debut in 1971. Ryman departed WED Enterprises that year, and set off on another round of world travels. He returned to the halls of Imagineering in 1976, though, in order to assist in the massive task of making EPCOT Center come to life.

Photo Flashback: Disney in the late-1930s | Cartoon Brew

http://www.cartoonbrew.comMore from this Domain

This is a shot of Disney’s Hyperion studio circa the time of production on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Not to glamorize a past where artists made fifteen dollars a week, but sometimes it’s fun to take a look back at how things were.

Davelandblog: Kevin Doherty & The PeopleMover Project

http://davelandblog.blogspot.comMore from this Domain

There are Disneyland souvenirs, and then there are holy grails; pieces of the actual park. The kinds of things that bring back cherished memories of something that is no longer able to be experienced in the present. Kevin Doherty recently contacted me and alerted me to a WAAAAAAAAAAAY cool project that he has been slaving away at. Here is his story:

The graphic caught my eye first. Then, I noticed the amazing hours at the Contemporary! You can drop off your toilet trained kids at the Contemporary Resort child-care all day, while you enjoy the Magic Kingdom, Treasure Island and the World Cruise . While you're at it, be sure to visit the Top of the World or any of the fine dining at the Disney Village.

My Disney Blog: Mickey Mouse Club: The Annette Sound

http://www.mydisneyblog.comMore from this Domain

OK, so I had always liked the Mickey Mouse Club, but it wasn't until recently buying Walt Disney Treasures: Annette that I knew what a special and amazing actress Annette Funicello is. The Annette serial was just plain awesome, and we watched the entire thing over two nights recently when we rented a cabin for a week.
