In one hand Disney holds over 5,000 new characters acquired when it purchased Marvel Entertainment, in the other the Power Ranger brand. The power rangers were like the cherry on the top of the sundae that was the Fox Family channel purchase. Sweet, but not a core part of the new brand.

Rumor has it that Marvel Studios is currently in talks to produce a number of smaller scale movies based on some of its lesser-known comic characters.

It is being reported that unlike Marvel Entertainment’s larger expected blockbusters these films will have a much smaller budget, somewhere in the range of $20-$40 million each.

Will the characters from Marvel Entertainment be appearing at the Disney Parks? Was the 4 Billion Dollar price tag worth it?

Marvel Studios and Columbia Pictures has pulled the plug on the current Spider-Man franchise, opting instead to do a reboot, putting Peter Parker in high school. That means director Sam Raimi is out, and star Tobey Maguire is out.
