What started as dirt in an unwanted place turned into a large mound of dirt, then a landscaped mound of dirt—and briefly a lookout point, then part of a support system for another attraction, to finally a landmark attraction of its own! It started with little to no value, and over time, with work and getting a purpose, became something of incredible value. What do we call it when something that has little to no intrinsic value is given worth?

Here's a familiar photo! Its those wacky Alpine Guides climbing Disneyland's Matterhorn. This photo is almost identical to the cover photo of the 1963 Vacationland from Sundays post (link) and was probably taken just moments apart.

I was talking with my pal Hoot the other day about how a Matterhorn mountain would fit perfectly in Magic Kingdom's Fantasyland. Disney talked about the idea decades ago. It was intended to go where Toontown is today. The latest rumors about the 'new Fantasyland' or 'Fantasyland Forest' say that some people at Disney are rethinking the whole thing.
