We’ve updated our detailed attraction profiles for the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom to include the most recent reader ratings and comments on each ride, and updated descriptions of each attraction. These are the same detailed attraction profiles which will be available in the 2011 Unofficial Guide, out later this month.

On Friday guests at Disney’s California Adventure park received an unexpected treat, a soft opening for the re-imagineered “Silly Symphonies Swings” attraction on Paradise Pier. Formally known as the “Orange Stinger” the swings went under refurbishment as part of Disney’s $1 billion expansion and makeover of the park.

In the tradition of the original Fantasyland Dark Rides, much of the Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay relies on black light and fluorescent painted 2-dimensional figures. As low-tech and deceptively simple as that may seem, I still think it looks mighty cool, especially in the loading queue area where all of the main characters from Nightmare Before Christmas can be found, including "Sandy Claws."

As the final season of “Lost” was about to start, the show’s fans launched a widespread online petition to bring an attraction to a Disney park based on the science-fiction series.

Now that the finale is set for Sunday, the petition may be lost on the desk of an ABC executive.

One the the first questions I ever raised about the Haunted Mansion is why the heck it's in Liberty Square, an apparent skeleton in the closet of an otherwise masterfully realized park.
