In this vintage undated photo, we see a lot of layering going on in Frontierland: The Mine Train attraction, a Stagecoach, and way up yonder are some guests riding the Pack Mules.

Let’s start counting...you saw him first on the wall of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” attraction at Disneyland (thanks for the reminder, Connie!)...and you saw him at The Costurera...

Ah, the Changing Portrait Hallway. Even the “paintings” along the way get taken over by Tim Burton’s cast of characters.

The wallpaper is the same, but a few “Little Shop of Horrors”-style plants have been added, and they are singing as obnoxiously as possible. Instead of the carefully planned music from the original attraction, the new soundtrack for the NBC overlay just seems like an ADD cacophony

Before we enter The Mansion with the NBC overlay, thought I’d post a few behind-the-scenes shots from the making of Tim Burton’s “Nightmare Before Christmas.” The whole concept of stop-motion animation fascinates me; the amount of creative genius combined with unfailing precision required boggles my mind.

55 years ago to today, Disneyland opened for a special invitation only group...unfortunately for Walt, the invitations were copied and a mob of over 30,000 showed up. It was somewhat of a chaotic situation, but as we all know, everything worked out just fine as the park is still thriving today.

There are Disneyland souvenirs, and then there are holy grails; pieces of the actual park. The kinds of things that bring back cherished memories of something that is no longer able to be experienced in the present. Kevin Doherty recently contacted me and alerted me to a WAAAAAAAAAAAY cool project that he has been slaving away at. Here is his story:

At Disneyland, The Spaceman was a character who inhabited Tomorrowland until the New Tomorrowland remodel of 1967. Apparently at that time he lost his relevance and his place in Anaheim.
