Let's travel back in time once again, for a vintage tour of Disneyland. We'll just set the Way Back machine for December 27, 1979 and VOILA, we're there!

Unfortunately, I do have to say that I found two things about the new show very disappointing. First of all, Lincoln's speech had been shortened back in the eighties and I was very surprised to see that it had not been restored this time around. This shortening of his speech occurred at the same time that the "Two Brothers" segment had been added to the show. That addition has ALWAYS bothered me. It doesn't fit with the rest of the show.

Thirty three years ago today, Space Mountain opened at Disneyland. About two months after it opened, my grandparents took my brother and me to the park to check it out. I still remember sitting in the front seat with my grandfather for that very first ride and the excitement of not knowing exactly what to expect.

Today we have a vintage slide from 1973 showing the Disneyland Hotel Shops and Travelport. Just out of view to the right would be the Disneyland Hotel Monorail Station. I have always loved the "Erector Set" style girders and the mid-century modern architecture of the old hotel and truly miss it today.

Let me start this post by saying that I don't consider myself a big Disneyland pin collector. I'm being specific here when I say "Disneyland." I actually own more pins from Tokyo Disneyland and Disneyland Paris than I do from the original Disney theme park that I grew up with. Maybe it's because I buy more souvenirs in general when I visit other Disney parks, than I do from the park that's right here in my own backyard.

This is a Friday the 13th "mini" trip report from The Happiest Place On Earth. I stopped by the park yesterday after work, and found the Alice In Wonderland exit leaf/track outlined with some very ugly railings. Evidently, this is something that OSHA is making Disney do for the safety of the employees when they have to perform evacuations of the attraction.

Today, Tokyo DisneySea is celebrating it's 9th anniversary. In honor of the anniversary, we will take a brief look at each of the park's lands/ports.
