Disney History Institute: Member Mickey Mouse -Kansas Cityan Decorates Protege
So in honor of yesterday’s “Help Wanted” for the renowned Disney historian Jim Korkis, I want to offer a few items from my own research files. I know Jim has requested information regarding the Mickey Mouse comic strips before, so hopefully this new request will fuel more interest and turn up some leads. One would think there is an institution of some sort that has the DeMolay Cordon on microfilm or even bound volumes. Ask around.

Disney History Institute: Fun Foto "A Thousand Words!" (Walt and Disneyland)
"It is said that a "Picture is worth a thousand words." I have always loved this photograph, because to me, it is worth a 1000 words about what Walt Disney was about. A candid photo, it shows Walt at Disneyland picking up trash in front of the Fire Station. It exemplifies Walt's passion for attention to detail, if there ever was any doubt about it or lack of proof."

"The Unknown Walt: Grandpa Disney" | The Disney History Institute
For the first “Unknown Walt” I have picked one of my all-time favorite interviews, and one that I truly feel is one of the most revealing conversations with Walt ... ever! Especially when concerned with Walt Disney the family man. To all the biographer’s of the world that try to tell us that Walt had little concern for his family, I suggest a read through of this casual chat.

Disney History Institute: Twelve Days of Christmas -- Day Two
A perfect example of Walt's "omnipresence" during the 1930s, at least to me, is today's item for the Second Day of Christmas here at the Institute. This is what historians (and collectors) call a "knock off," which is something that is not licensed by Disney or makes use of the Disney product without permission.

Disney History Institute: Disney Guest Star Day With Reddy Kilowatt
During the turbulent financial times of the early 1940s, Walt and Roy made the decision to find work anywhere in order to keep the Studio afloat. The Disney brothers explored a variety of commercial and corporate clients, which Walt was loathe to do earlier in his career. And as you can no doubt gather from the above image, yes, Mr. Reddy Kilowatt did have a brief stop at the Studio.

WALT'S WORDS: FANTASIA Beethoven's Symphony No. 6

Actual Home Movies of the Hatbox Ghost - 1969
"Who is the most famous ghost in the Haunted Mansion? Without doubt, the Hatbox Ghost, a ghoul who lived there for only a few days. Short, pasty and decapitated--one of the most frightening figures to ever take up residence in the attic. But for decades fans wondered if this ghost actually existed in the finished attraction. Had it been removed before the Mansion's grand opening? And then four decades after opening day, DoomBuggies.Com ..."

THE CARTOGRAPHY OF DISNEYLAND MAPS
As a child, one of my all-time favorite Disneyland souvenirs was the map (still is–at least the vintage ones). As I set out on my path of preserving Walt Disney’s legacy through oral history, one of my all-time favorite WED Imagineers became Sam McKim, who as it turned out did the artwork for my favorite souvenir, the map.

THE DISNEYLAND FLYING SAUCERS
In response to the interest in Disneyland's Flying Saucers on the Institute's Facebook page, I took a few minutes to gather these photographs from the Institute's Flying Saucer Library (including two images that have, to my knowledge, never been seen before).
